23rd May 2013 - During a routine inspection pdf icon

During our inspection we met with the practice manager and registered provider. We took a tour of the premises which appeared to be a clean environment. We spoke with five people who used the service and three members of staff. People told us they were treated with respect and involved in making decisions about their treatment. We looked at patient records which were consistent with the treatments people had described to us.

We saw that the risks of cross infection were reduced by the service following effective infection control procedures. Staff we spoke with said they felt supported by the service. One member of staff said “it’s great, I love my job”. We saw that the service sought feedback from people and acted upon comments. There were systems in place to identify and manage risks.

Comments from people we spoke with included:

“I’m kept informed of how the treatment is going”

“I’ve been given options and costs”

“I’m very happy with the service”

“The dentist always says if you want to stop I’ll just stop”

“When I had a root canal treatment I was given written information about the risks”

“If I’ve asked for an emergency appointment it’s been there”

“I’ve recommended it to lots of others”
