16th November 2012 - During a routine inspection pdf icon

We did not speak with patients when we conducted this inspection. We did review the patient satisfaction questionnaire responses. We saw that all respondents commented they were very happy with the service. The majority of patients had responded that they were very happy with their care and treatment. One patient recorded; "I feel fully informed about my treatments and the dentist always explained what they were doing". Another wrote; "They are all very friendly, they make you feel relaxed." One person had also recorded; “You have been fantastic in helping my son following his accident where he damaged his teeth.” Another person had written; “An excellent service. I am very happy with my care.”

At this inspection we checked four patient’s records and saw that relevant information regarding dental examinations was recorded. The practice had appropriate equipment to support people in the event of a medical emergency. We found the practice was compliant with the essential quality requirements for decontamination and the practice had effective systems in place to reduce the risk and spread of infection. Staff received appropriate professional development. Staff told us; “I like the access we have to training and I always feel well supported.” And “It is a very good environment to develop my knowledge.” We found that the practice had an effective system in place to enable them to regularly assess and monitor the quality of service that patients received.
