People who use the service were provided with sufficient information. People had a comprehensive consultation with the doctor at least one week before a procedure was carried out. We looked at consultation notes and saw that the procedure, the risks, benefits and side effects had been discussed. We saw that there were information leaflets available about the different procedures offered by Swiss Care Cosmetic and Laser Clinic.

A detailed medical history was taken for each person to ensure that the treatment was appropriate. It was not possible to speak with people who use the service as no one had booked an appointment on the day of the inspection. However, we looked at recently completed feedback questionnaires. These indicated that people were happy with the service. People rated the overall service as "good" or "excellent". One person commented that staff explained the treatment process "in a clear manner" to them, whilst another described staff as "kind and helpful". No complaints had been received in relation to the surgical procedures offered at the clinic. However, the complaints policy was on display and any concerns raised were discussed at clinic meetings. There were effective systems in place to reduce the risk and spread of infection. The clinic appeared to be clean and well maintained. There were policies in place in relation to infection control and the decontamination of instruments. Staff appropriate training and supervision.

We spoke to people about the treatments they had received that were under the remit of the Care Quality Commission. People told us they felt confident about using the service and that they received a detailed explanation and information about proposed treatments. People we spoke to told us "they are very thorough; the doctor listened and took time to explain things".

The premises were clean, well lit and designed to ensure privacy and dignity during consultations and treatments. Staff were observed to be discreet and helpful.

There were effective controls in place to ensure laser equipment was always safe for use and that protective equipment was available to people and staff. We saw that routine servicing and testing of all equipment was completed and that annual inspections had been completed satisfactorily.

Appropriate checks and records were maintained to show staff were trained and qualified to provide the treatments offered.

People's feedback was encouraged through the use of surveys and suggestions to improve the service were acted upon.
