29th February 2012 - During a routine inspection pdf icon

People told us that they were happy with the service that was provided. One person told us that they had moved to this dentist from another dental clinic, because it had been recommended to them. They told us that they had been more than satisfied with the treatment that they had received at the James Meakin dental clinic.

People told us that the examination that they received was very thorough. They told us the the dentist very clearly explained what they needed or were going to do. "I think they are excellent", commented one person.

People told us that the staff were very sensitive to their needs. People who told us that they were anxious about going to visit the dentist, told us that staff were very good at relaxing them and making them feel at ease. One person told us that One person told us, “They are very approachable, and very pleasant”.

People told us that they were informed about the costs of their treatment, before it is carried out. One person told us, "I was told about the fees on phone when I made an appointment". Another person told us, " I know roughly what the cost will be”.

People who had recently completed a survey questionnaire rated the service as, "good" or "excellent" in all areas including greeting them in a warm and friendly way; staff explaining to them what they are going to do before examining them; talking through different options and helping them to choose; and talking in plain language so that they could understand".

People told us that once they had arrived at the clinic, they never had long to wait to see the dentist. One person told us, "they were very good; very helpful at fitting us in this morning".

People told that they had never had any reason to complain about the service. They said that they were not sure exactly what they would do if they had a concern or complaint, but that they felt confident to speak to the dentist or reception staff about any concern they had. They said that they felt confident that staff would dealt with any concern they raised. One person told us, "if I wasn't happy with something I would speak to the dentist. I wouldn't go over his head. I'd be happy to talk to him".
