24th April 2014 - During an inspection to make sure that the improvements required had been made pdf icon

Our last inspection in June 2013 identified some concerns that patients who use the clinic were not protected from the risk of abuse because the provider had not taken reasonable steps to identify the possibility of abuse and prevent abuse from happening. We found the provider had not followed their own recruitment procedure to ensure people had the appropriate qualifications, skills and experience to carry out the work they had been employed for. In addition the provider had not obtained the information required to carry out the necessary checks before staff began work.

We carried out this follow up inspection to check that improvements had been made.

We found that the improvements required following our previous inspection had been fully completed and that patients who used the service were protected from the risk of abuse because the provider had taken reasonable steps to identify the possibility of abuse and prevent abuse from happening.

We found that appropriate checks were undertaken before staff began work and there were effective recruitment and selection processes in place.

19th June 2013 - During a routine inspection pdf icon

We spoke with some of the patients who used the service. One of the patients told us the service was “very good, I’m very pleased with the treatment” another patient said “my dentist now is absolutely fantastic; my treatment in the past though was not good”.

People who used the service were not protected from the risk of abuse because the provider had not taken reasonable steps to identify the possibility of abuse or prevent it from happening.

Patients we spoke to made the following comments about the cleanliness of the service; “it’s absolutely fine” and “I’ve always found it inviting, clean and tidy”. During our visit we found all areas of the location were clean and tidy.

The provider had not followed their recruitment and selection process or carried out appropriate checks before staff began work to ensure people were cared for by suitably qualified, skilled and experienced staff.

We found the service had recently introduced questionnaires for patients to complete to and maintenance was regularly carried out on the various equipment used at the service.
