5th September 2013 - During a routine inspection pdf icon

All the people we spoke with confirmed they were very happy with the care and treatment they received within the practice. When we asked people about getting an appointment at the practice they confirmed that this was never a problem. One person told us; “I am a very nervous patient. I like the way you stay with the same dentist, not just seeing any dentist like in my previous practice. I have had a really good experience today. This is the type of practice I have been looking for. The dentist seems confident and knows what they are talking about.” The practice facilities were clean and well maintained with appropriate floor and surface coverings. In the most recent patient survey 98% of all respondents marked the general appearance and cleanliness as very good.

We found that staff received appropriate professional development and were able to obtain further qualifications. Staff told us that they did not have on going formal supervision and appraisal because it was a small and friendly practice. They confirmed to us that they felt they could discuss anything with the dentists without going through a formal system. Staff we spoke with told us, “This is a lovely practice. The training is very good and we tend to all go together to training sessions. We also have lunch and learn sessions which are extremely good and helpful.” Another person told us, “I feel well supported in the practice. I would not hesitate to ask for help if I didn’t understand anything.” We found that the practice did have a system in place which enabled them to regularly assess and monitor the quality of service that people received. The practice had a development plan which recorded that that they would, ’maintain high standards of care and treatment by constant development and improvement and by listening to our patients.’
