7th December 2012 - During a routine inspection pdf icon

We saw people were given appropriate information about the service and the care and treatment they received. We spoke with three people who used the service who told us they understood the care and treatment choices available to them. One person told us, "The dentist told me everything, I was really impressed. My first appointment lasted an hour so I had plenty of time to ask any questions. I was given a few different options, and the dentist went through what each one would involve. It took me quite a while to decide what I would go for. The dentist was excellent he gave me a number to call and told me I could call anytime if I had any further questions.”

People told us they were happy with the care and treatments they had received. One person said, “The service was first class, it’s ticked every box. I went after not having been to the dentist for about 20 years, I was bit nervous going back after that length of time, but I shouldn’t have worried. The treatment has been perfect. They’re very professional.”

We found that staff training was kept up to date so that staff could care for people safely and to an appropriate standard. People were protected from the risk of infection because appropriate guidance had been followed and there was an effective system in place to monitor and assess the quality of the service.
