17th February 2014 - During a routine inspection pdf icon

We spoke with four people attending for appointments on the day of our visit. They told us they were given good explanations of the treatment they needed and how much it would cost. They also said that where there were a number of options to choose from and the dentist explained them all. They confirmed that they were asked to give consent before treatment commenced.

People's care was planned and there were good records of treatment carried out. There were arrangements in place to ensure any medical emergencies could be responded to.

We found there were good arrangements to ensure the risk of infection transmission was minimised and the provider ensured that this and other aspects of the business were monitored closely to ensure that people were protected and felt safe.

The provider was now following guidance related to the safe recruitment of staff. Staff told us they felt supported and we observed that they had a range of training opportunities.

There was an effective complaints system in place where the provider responded appropriately to any expressions of concern.

We looked at the NHS Choices web-site where people ‘posted’ comments about their experience. The most recent comment was negative but almost all other comments were positive about people’s experiences.
