9th November 2012 - During a routine inspection pdf icon

The practice was undertaking refurbishment and improvement work at the time of our inspection. This work had been planned to take place only when the practice was closed, so that people would not be affected by this. Most of the work was taking place on the upper floor where people did not receive treatment. One person told us, "The practice has improved dramatically over the last few years, they have certainly brought it up to date", when referring to the refurbishment that was being carried out. Another person said, "I am very happy here, the place is clean and it feels comfortable".

The practice was designed for easy access for people who use a wheelchair. The double doors of the main entrance led through to a spacious and brightly lit waiting and reception area. There was a total of five treatment rooms located on either the ground floor, or on the first floor. An extraoral X ray room was on the ground floor which had been suitably lead lined, apart from the door which had not yet been completed, although there were clearly demarcated safety areas to ensure that staff were not placed at risk when operating the x-ray equipment.

Fire risk assessments had been prepared and fire testing equipment had been checked regularly and there was a lot of signage informing people about the emergency exits in case of a fire.
