During our visit to Horder Imaging Centre we observed four people using the service and spoke with four staff members including the regional director and the registered manager. Our visit was facilitated by the registered manager.

We saw that people who use the service were assessed prior to using the service and that there was emphasis on safety and risk management. We saw that people's privacy and dignity was respected and we observed staff interacting with people in a calm, friendly and professional manner.

People who use the service told us they were happy with the quality of care they received and that they felt well informed about what to expect and involved in the procedure they were receiving. We viewed satisfaction survey results that indicated all respondents had found the service to be excellent or very good. One person we spoke with told us "This is my second scan in the space of a few weeks and the staff have been excellent. It has all gone very smoothly."

Staff we spoke with told us they felt confident that the quality of service was good and that they had the flexibility to meet the needs of people who use the service. We observed staff taking extra time to support people when they needed it. We saw that appropriate recruitment and selection processes were in place for new staff and that staff underwent a thorough induction into the service. One staff member told us "The team works well together with good support and communication."
