28th February 2014 - During a routine inspection pdf icon

People told us they were very satisfied with the care and treatment they had received. One person told us, "The most painless treatment I have ever had. The practice is very good." and another person commented, "I have mobility problems and they are very accommodating here. I have no access issues at all and never feel rushed."

People confirmed they were involved in their treatment plan and said they had discussed various treatment options with their dentist. People also said they were treated with respect and their queries were answered in a sensitive and understanding manner. For example, one person told us, "I can always talk to the dentist privately. They really listen to any questions I have and give clear answers."

Staff had an understanding of safeguarding children and vulnerable adults procedures and knew who to contact in the event of a concern.

People were treated in a clean environment and comprehensive arrangements were in place for the safe decontamination of reusable instruments and equipment. This was carried out in line with national guidance (Health Technical Memorandum (HTM) 01-05, 2013) on the decontamination and sterilisation of dental equipment and instruments.

Staff were appropriately trained and qualified to provide dental care at the practice. All staff training was recorded and staff had regularly supervision and an annual appraisal. The dentists were registered with the General Dental Council (GDC) and had evidence of continual professional development. This ensured that staff were up to date with current dental practices.
