29th May 2013 - During a routine inspection pdf icon

Lee-on-the-Solent Dental Practice provided a service for some NHS patients, for patients under a dental insurance plan and for private patients. We saw that there was a list of treatment charges in a folder in the waiting area.

We spoke with four people who were sat in the waiting area of the practice. This area was comfortable, warm and clean and had a range of information leaflets available. All the people told us they were satisfied with the service they received. One person said; "I have been coming here for 22 years so what does that tell you?”

People told us that they were able to make informed decisions. They said they had enough information to make a decision about their treatment options.

We were told that the provider fully explained the options about the treatment they were being offered. People said they were able to ask any questions and that staff explained things to them clearly.

The service had effective quality systems in place that ensured the service was kept clean. There was sufficient staff that had sufficient qualifications, skills and experience working at the practice.

Patients spoke highly of the dental service provided that The Lee-on-the-Solent Dental Surgery. They told us staff were always friendly and helpful. They were always provided with information and explanations about the range of suitable treatments which included the costs of the various treatments. This meant that they were able to make informed decisions about their treatment plans.

They said they were always pleased with the standard of treatment they received at the dental surgery and that staff were “brilliant”. Patients confirmed they are given advice about maintaining good dental health. They told us that the reception and surgeries were always clean and they did not have any concerns with hygiene practices.
