24th January 2013 - During an inspection to make sure that the improvements required had been made pdf icon

Our inspection of 19 November 2012 found that people were not protected from the risk of abuse as the provider did not have a safeguarding policy and some staff had not received safeguarding training. The provider wrote to us on 10 December 2012 and told us the service had implemented a safeguarding policy and that all staff training in safeguarding would be completed by 16 January 2013.

During this inspection, we found that the service had implemented a safeguarding policy that was aligned with the local authority policy and staff had received appropriate training in safeguarding.

19th November 2012 - During a routine inspection pdf icon

We were only able to speak with one person during our inspection, who had not used the service before that day. This person told us their needs and treatment options were discussed with them and all associated risks were highlighted.

Staff were aware of their requirement to obtain a person’s consent and that it was documented where required, and people’s needs were assessed and care was delivered in line with their needs.

Staff knowledge of safeguarding varied. Some staff had not completed training to ensure people were protected from the risk of abuse and the provider did not have a safeguarding policy.

Staff had received appraisals but these were not documented, and the provider did not have a comprehensive record of staff training available.

The provider had undertaken quality assurance checks and audits relating to the quality of service provision.
