4th July 2013 - During a routine inspection pdf icon

Our inspection was arranged with the staff at the practice one working day in advance. This was to ensure that we had time to see and speak with staff working at the practice, as well as people registered with the practice.

During the inspection we spoke with the practice manager and their assistant, the lead dentist, the head nurse and treatment co-ordinator, the infection control nurse, three dental nurses, a hygienist and one receptionist. We also spoke with six people that were registered with the service who attended for appointments during our visit.

We reviewed four sets of dental records and looked at the recruitment folders of three staff. We were shown the infection control processes of the practice and their full range of quality assurance audits.

People that used the practice told us that they received care and treatment that was planned with their agreement and they had received care that had met their expectations.

We saw that all consultations were documented and staff told us that any change in a person's health needs was taken into account when planning their treatment. People told us that the practice was exceptionally clean and tidy and that they had no concerns about the environment.

The planning and delivery of training ensured that the training needs of all staff were met. We saw that there were arrangements in place to monitor the quality and safety of the practice which meant that risks were identified and responded to.
