12th March 2013 - During an inspection to make sure that the improvements required had been made pdf icon

We carried out this inspection to check whether previous shortfalls in the management of risks associated with infection had been addressed. These issues had been identified during our last inspection of the service on 19 November 2012.

At this inspection we found improvements had been made and the provider had taken action since our last visit to ensure that people were protected against the identifiable risks of acquiring a health care associated infection.

We found there were effective systems in place to reduce the risk and spread of infection and appropriate guidance had been followed.

Staff confirmed that new procedures were in place and these had been explained to them by the provider.

We did not discuss the management of risks associated with infection with patients of this dental practice at this follow up inspection.

19th November 2012 - During a routine inspection pdf icon

People told us they were very happy with the dental care and treatment they received. One person said, "It is an excellent, really friendly service. I have had phone calls after treatment and staff are approachable and genuine." Another person said, "From the very beginning we have had excellent service every time."

We found that people were involved in their care and were given information and choices about treatment options.

People's dental care and treatment needs were assessed and their treatment was planned.

Staff were trained to an appropriate standard and were supported by the provider to deliver care and treatment to people safely.

The provider had an effective system in place to monitor the quality of the service that they provided.

However, although people told us they were very happy with the service they received and we saw that they were well supported, we found that failures to manage cleanliness and infection control appropriately, might put people at risk.
