6th December 2012 - During a routine inspection pdf icon

We spoke with the dentist, two dental nurses and three patients during the inspection. We spoke with two patients by telephone following the inspection. Patients told us they had been happy with the service provided. Some comments were, ‘’ Staff are very efficient and professional’’ and the dentist ‘’Has explained all treatments and options.’’

Patients told us they found the staff approachable and would raise any concerns with them. We were told that the dentist is currently developing a patient satisfaction questionnaire to capture feedback from patients about their experiences at the practice.

We saw the practice had systems in place to protect people from the risk of abuse. The practice had a local child protection policy statement in place. The provider may like to note that we did not see a copy of the ‘Warwickshire Adult or Child Protection Procedures.’

We were told that there were sufficient staff available to accommodate patients' needs. We saw patients' needs had been assessed, risks identified and personalised plans of care developed for each person. There was evidence of specialist dental healthcare needs being met. We have asked that the provider may like to note our findings in relation to some expired resuscitation equipment and the current practice of the storage of resuscitation drugs at the practice.
