19th December 2013 - During a routine inspection pdf icon

We spoke with eight people who used the service, either in the waiting room or by telephone. We met with the provider of the service who was the dentist, and their qualified dental nurse. We toured the premises and looked at records related to the running of the practice.

People told us that the care they received at The Tooth Team was “very, very good.” One person said, “They are absolutely great – their attitude and the way they treat us.” Another person said, “They talk to you and tell you what is going on. It has put my faith back in dentists”.

We saw that the waiting room was comfortable and people said they never had to wait for the dentist.

We found that people were given good information about their treatment options and about how they should care for their own teeth and oral health.

The practice had provided guidance and training to identify and deal with child protection and safeguarding vulnerable adults. There were systems in place to audit the quality of the service and assess and minimise any risks.

Infection control procedures were carried out with great care but people may not be entirely protected because not all the provision followed the guidelines given by the Department of Health.
