21st June 2013 - During a routine inspection pdf icon

We spoke with seven people who had received dental treatment during the week of our visit. Everyone we spoke with was complimentary about their experiences of care and treatment, providing comments such as “My dentist and dental nurse are wonderful” and “[They] provide a really good service”. People said they received clear explanations of treatment options and written quotations. Those who were anxious about dental appointments said they were reassured and helped to relax by the staff at the practice. People whose children received care at this practice said, “All the staff are friendly” and “They are great with the children.” People who had received emergency treatment said they had been “fitted in the same day” and given clear explanations of the cause of their pain, and the treatment options available.

Some people told us they had been asked to provide feedback about their experiences of care. The people we spoke to had no complaints but were confident that any issues would be addressed. We found that there were systems in place to control and prevent infections, and everyone we spoke with said they were given advice on oral hygiene. Staff told us they felt supported and were encouraged to develop their skills. There were a range of checks conducted to maintain quality in the practice.
