19th August 2013 - During a routine inspection pdf icon

We carried out an inspection at The Village Dental Practice to look at the care and treatment provided to patients who used the service. During our inspection we spoke with five staff and five patients who visited the practice that day. We reviewed four patient records and made observations throughout the inspection.

Patients said they felt well informed about their treatment and were always advised of the individual options available to them. When asked if they were treated with dignity and respect, each patient agreed.

Patients told us that the service was “Excellent” because the dentists offered clear explanations and choices. Comments about the care and treatment were positive and included “They do what’s best for their patients, not their bank balance”.

During our visit we saw that all areas of the practice were clean and hygienic. Patients we spoke with commented positively and described the cleanliness of the environment as “It’s always clean” and “It’s pristine”.

There were quality arrangements in place and patients were encouraged to comment on the service. We saw patient surveys which gave mostly positive feedback. One patient stated that the practice was “Excellent”. We noted that not all quality monitoring paperwork was up to date. However, the provider sent us evidence of this following our inspection.
