9th January 2014 - During a routine inspection pdf icon

During our inspection visit we spoke with the practice manager, a dentist and two dental nurses. We spoke with five patients who attended the practice for treatment and with consent looked at their treatment records.

People’s views and experiences were taken into account in the way the service was provided and delivered in relation to their care. One person told us, “They [dentists] explain what’s happening, what they’re doing and they involve you. They let you go away and think about it, it’s done in steps.”

Care and treatment was planned and delivered in a way that was intended to ensure people's safety and welfare. Comments included, “I’m happy, I’d always come back” and “I always feel they’re up to date because they’re students, that’s a very positive thing to me and my partner. No qualms whatsoever.”

People were protected from the risk of infection because appropriate guidance had been followed. The practice had a infection control policies in place for staff to follow.

People were cared for, or supported by, suitably qualified, skilled and experienced staff.

The provider had an effective system to regularly assess and monitor the quality of service that people receive.
