27th February 2014 - During a routine inspection pdf icon

We spoke with four patients who were attending appointments with the dentists. One patient said, "I have been coming here for over thirteen years now. I know they look after me well and have told my friends and family to come here". Another patient told us, "the dentist always tells me what they are going to do and has offered me some choices of treatment. I trust them with the advice and am really happy with all of the work the dentist has done to give me a smile."

We spoke with a nurse and observed them while they were decontaminating dental instruments. The practice had a decontamination room and the nurse demonstrated their knowledge of the processes involved in cleaning and sterilising the instruments used.

We looked at all the staff records and found appropriate checks had been completed on staff before they commenced employment with the practice. A nurse said, "I trained here and was really happy to get the job when I qualified." The dentist told us about their recruitment process and showed us how they checked to ensure staff were suitably qualified and had the skills required for the job.

We looked at a number of management records which showed how the provider monitored the quality of the service they provided. We read comments from 24 patient surveys. One said, "I think it is a very well run surgery."
