30th August 2013 - During a routine inspection pdf icon

Patients told us they were happy with the service. One patient said, “I’ve always found them very good.” Another patient said, “my experience has been good. They are conscientious and caring.”

Patients referred to good communication with the dentist they saw. One said, “they always say what they are going to do,” and a second said, “they give sufficient information, are clear on options and what needs to be done.”

Patients told us they were treated with respect and that they were asked about their medical history. One patient said, “they always ask my medical history when I visit. Another patient said, “I’ve been coming for six years and they are always respectful.”

The treatment plans we saw contained clear information about the treatment provided to patients. The patients we spoke to said that they had been asked to sign consent forms and we saw examples of these. Staff had been provided with a range of relevant training. Patients had been asked to give their views via a patient survey and there was relevant information about the service, health care and how patients could complain on display in the waiting area.

There were records confirming that the decontamination equipment had been serviced regularly and that daily checks were being undertaken. There had also been regular audits of the decontamination process.
