6th June 2013 - During a routine inspection pdf icon

This small town centre practice had one dentist and two dental nurses. The dental nurses covered reception as well as assisting the dentist. The practice was open from 9am to 5pm Monday to Thursday and from 9am to 1pm on a Friday. An emergency out of hours service for registered patients was available.

We spoke with three people who attended for treatment during our visit. All of them told us that they were very satisfied with the service. One person told us “It’s an excellent service.”

People told us that their views and opinions were taken into account in the way the service was provided and delivered in relation to their care.

We looked at the results of a recent survey conducted by the practice. These results showed that the practice had acted upon feedback received and made improvements.

Staff we spoke with had received recent training in safeguarding vulnerable adults and child protection. Staff we spoke with understood how to recognise and report any concerns that they had.

We found that mandatory standards on infection control set down by the Department of Health had been met. One person said “It’s always clean and tidy.”

The practice had daily, weekly and monthly checks in place to monitor the quality of care and treatment provided. Evidence showed that regular audits took place.
