19th June 2013 - During a routine inspection pdf icon

During our inspection we spoke with five patients. We spoke with four staff; these were the practice manager, the orthodontist, a dental nurse and the receptionist.

We also took information from other sources to help us understand the views of people who used the service, which included a patient satisfaction survey.

The patients we spoke with told us they thought they received good dental treatment from the orthodontist. One patient told us, “I am completely satisfied with the treatment I receive here.” Another patient told us, “The dentist is really friendly, gentle and careful.”

The practice was following appropriate guidance in relation to infection control and the staff were well trained and supported. A member of staff we spoke with told us, “It would be ideal to have a separate decontamination room but we are really on top of infection control at this practice.”

Staff knew what their role was to protect vulnerable adults and children from abuse. A member of staff that we spoke with told us, "If I had any concerns regarding safeguarding issues I would report them straightaway.”

The practice had systems in place to assess and monitor the service and effectively deal with complaints when necessary.
