9th July 2013 - During a routine inspection pdf icon

During our inspection visit we spoke with three patients who had or were about to receive treatment. Patents told us they were happy with the service they received. Patients advised us the staff were always helpful, polite, respectful and sensitive towards them and they said they had confidence in the staff's skills and expertise.

We received the following comments from the patients: ‘It’s been great – no problems.’’ They [staff] put you at ease, they are very good.’’ I had emergency treatment a while ago – the response was very quick.’’

Patients told us their treatment options were explained fully to them, so they were able to make informed decisions about what treatments were best for them and which they would prefer. Patients confirmed they received thorough examinations and were provided with dental advice. This was further confirmed by looking at dental records kept by the practice.

We found the service to be adhering to standards of infection control. There were systems in place to monitor infection control standards and these were regularly reviewed. We had some discussions about the development of the decontamination room as the current lay out leaves very little working space.

We found staff were trained and supported to carry out their work at the surgery. Staff we spoke with said the practice was good to work for.

We saw there were systems in place to both monitor and further develop the practice to help ensure the best outcome for people using the service.
