16th July 2013 - During a routine inspection pdf icon

We spoke with six patients who used the service and the practice staff, including the owner and principal dentist.

Patients told us that they were involved in the planning of their care. One person told us, “The dentist was amazing, wonderful. They used the camera equipment in the surgery to explain what they were planning to do and were able to strip the explanation down to basics so that I could follow it completely."

Patients were assessed and received treatment according to their individual needs. People told us they were satisfied with the service.

Staff knew how to keep vulnerable patient's safe. We saw there was safeguarding information available. We were told by staff the procedures that were followed if they had safeguarding concerns.

The practice was clean and hygienic and met all guidelines for infection control and decontamination. The dental nurse commented, "The systems in place mean I'm confident we have the best in infection control and decontamination."

The provider had systems for gathering patient's views about the service and for dealing with any complaints. We found records were used appropriately to monitor the quality of the service.
