10th February 2014 - During a routine inspection pdf icon

Patients told us they were involved in making decisions about their treatment and dentists were “very good at explaining what needs to happen” and that they “always tell you the differences between the treatment options, prices, pros and cons.” Staff demonstrated a good understanding of equal opportunities policy.

We found that patients' needs were assessed, including needs arising from any medical conditions, before treatment was planned and delivered. Patients told us they were "always very satisfied with the results" and "they put me at my ease."

We found that appropriate guidance had been followed to protect patients from the risk of infection and that staff were aware of cleaning and decontamination procedures, although we did have some concerns about the condition of staff toilet facilities.

We found some evidence that appropriate checks were undertaken before staff started work and the provider told us how they ensured staff were appropriately skilled, experienced and of good character.

Patients told us they had opportunities to feed back their views although some said they would welcome further opportunities. Staff told us the provider listened to their views. We found evidence of regular audits and actions arising from these.
