31st July 2013 - During a routine inspection pdf icon

During our inspection we spoke with six patients. We spoke with three members of staff, they were the practice manager, one of the dentists and a dental nurse who also works on the reception.

We also took information from other sources to help us understand the views of patients who used the service, which included a patient satisfaction survey.

The patients we spoke with told us they thought they received good dental treatment from the dentists. One patient told us, “I like it here and that’s why I keep coming back.” Another patient told us, “The dentist is very professional and friendly. They advertise as ‘no pain’ and I’ve never had any.”

Staff knew their role in protecting vulnerable adults and children from abuse. A member of staff we spoke with told us, "I am aware of the different types of abuse and would have no hesitation to report such issues. I would report any concerns I had to our safeguarding lead and talk to social services.”

The practice was following appropriate guidance in relation to infection control and the staff were supported to carry out their responsibilities in relation to infection control. The dentist we spoke with told us, “Our level of infection control is good, it’s something we’re proud of. The nurses do their job really well.”

The practice had systems in place to assess and continually review the service that it provided and was making improvements where needed.
