13th November 2012 - During a routine inspection pdf icon

People who used the service told us they completed a consent form prior to any treatment being carried out and that they had full confidence in the dentist. They also told us they discussed their treatment with the dentist and understood they could refuse treatment. Comments included, “Everything was explained to me, the staff were very helpful" and "The communication is very clear and all options were discussed."

People who used the service told us about their experiences of the practice during their course of treatment. We were told that the staff were always professional and polite. Comments included; "I have been coming here for a number of years and I am happy with the treatment I have received."

We spoke with people who used the service and they told us they thought the dental surgery was clean and hygienic and that on each visit the dentist and dental nurses had worn personal protective equipment such as face masks, aprons and gloves.

We saw that the practice had emergency equipment and drugs to help people if they become ill whilst receiving dental care. Staff had received training which was relevant to their role and they told us they felt well supported to undertake training.

People who used the service told us they were informed about the complaints procedure and their views were sought on a regular basis and changes were made as result of any suggestions. We found the service listened to people's views and took action when needed.
