10th April 2013 - During a routine inspection pdf icon

We found that people were provided with sufficient information prior to an appointment and during treatment. The surgery was clean and bright, and we observed staff treating patients with courtesy and respect. One person we spoke with told us, "It's lovely and welcoming. My relative has mobility issues and they can't do enough to help us."

We found that care was planned and delivered in an individual way and that people's treatment was tailored to their preferences. One person who used the service told us, "I have been to several dentists over the years but here it is good quality service."

The surgery had robust infection control policies in place that reflected relevant guidance. The surgery was clean, airy and well presented and staff had received training for infection control.

Staff received an induction and training had been provided to all staff. Appraisals were completed with staff members and these were regularly reviewed. One staff member we spoke with told us, "When I started here I wasn't very confident, but the manager has helped me with my development and now I feel much more confident."

We saw that there were systems in place to measure the quality of the service provided to people. These systems were reviewed and that staff and people who used the service were able to influence this.
