5th June 2013 - During a routine inspection pdf icon

During our visit to Westbridge Dental Practice we met with the registered manager, practice manager and a dentist. We spoke with five patients, a parent of a young patient and with three members of staff.

All the patients' we spoke with were very happy with the treatment they received. One of the patients had been with the practice for many years said "I'm obviously happy because I'm still here". Patients' told us they found it easy to get appointments at times that suited them. Patients' were able to obtain urgent treatment. A patient told us "I was seen within half an hour of calling the surgery". Patients' also told us their treatment was explained to the before it was started and during the treatment. One patient said "Before they start the procedure they explain what's to be done".

The practice was very clean and tidy and procedures to reduce the risk and spread of infection were followed.

Staff were very positive and told us they felt well supported. One member of staff said "I find staff meetings very useful".

The practice had effective and adequate systems in place to monitor the quality of service that people received. The views of people who used the service were sought and what they said about the service was acted upon. Annual patient surveys were undertaken and suggestion boxes were available with feedback forms in waiting areas.
