26th November 2012 - During a routine inspection pdf icon

During and after our visit we spoke with six people about their care and treatment. Everybody told us that the dentist spent time discussing their treatment plan. One person said “The dentist goes into a lot of detail and spends time explaining things.”

Everybody we spoke with was very complimentary about the care they received. One person commented in a recent survey, "The dentist is excellent at reducing discomfort." We also looked at patient records which enabled us to see the information recorded for each person’s visit. The dentist had recorded their examination of soft tissues, teeth and other relevant observations.

We saw there were systems in place at this practice to reduce the risk and spread of infection. During our visit we spoke to clinical staff at the practice. They were aware of the safe practices required to meet the essential standards of department of health guidance.

Staff training records showed that everyone working at the practice had taken part in basic life support. There was also evidence, in the form of attendance certificates that staff had taken part in a number of training courses relevant to their role.

One of the people we spoke with told us they had not been asked directly for comments on the service. However they told us that there had always been a suggestion box in the waiting room and they would be happy to use this or discuss any issues with any member of staff.
