21st March 2012 - During a routine inspection pdf icon

During our visit to the practice we spoke with five patients who had appointments that day. They were all very positive about the service provided. They told us staff are pleasant, helpful and considerate. For example, one patient said, “All the staff are friendly and kind. I actually enjoy coming to the dentist”. Another patient said, “Staff make you feel at home and are considerate”. And another said, “I am a bit nervous coming to the dentist, but everything is explained and talked through which helps me”.

All the patients said they had enough information about the services and treatment provided. They told us they got appointments at convenient times and generally they did not have to wait too long. One patient said, “If they are running late they will let us know”. Another said, “I recently needed an urgent appointment and I was fitted in straight away at a time that suited me”.

The five patients we spoke to said they were happy with the care and treatment they receive and have confidence in the skills and experience of staff. For example, one patient said, “It is excellent here. I feel confident about the treatment I receive and if I have a problem staff will sort things out for me”.

Patients also told us that treatment options and plans were fully explained to them including what to expect, the risks and benefits and the costs. One patient said, “I am always given good advice”. Another said, “Everything was explained in plain English”.

All the patients told us they had had their medical history taken and this information was regularly updated when they came for check-ups or treatments.
