29th January 2013 - During a routine inspection pdf icon

People we met said they were happy with their care and treatment at the practice. One person said they trusted the dentist and the staff and considered the relationship important. Another person said they had also attended the practice for many years. They were happy with their care and the way the practice operated. All the people said they would recommend the practice. They had been able to get appointments when they needed them, and this included unplanned or emergency visits.

We found people, who were able, gave valid consent to their examinations and treatment. People were given enough information and advice to make an informed decision. People who were not able to give valid consent were treated appropriately and within legal requirements. People were given safe and effective care and treatment. The dentist was aware of and recorded those matters affecting a person's dental health. People were given good advice about caring for their teeth and gums. Staff at the practice were trained to deal with any medical emergencies that might arise. Equipment was available and in good condition.

The practice was clean and instruments decontaminated safely and to essential quality standards. The practice ensured people were cared for by staff who were skilled, qualified and fit to work. There was a comprehensive and appropriate complaints policy.
