26th April 2013 - During a routine inspection pdf icon

The provider was the dentist who had recently taken over the practice. We spoke with the practice manager, the dentist, a dental nurse and the receptionist. We also spoke with five people who used the service. Two had been using the practice, with previous dentists for several years. They told us that they were happy with the service they now received and had no complaints. However they did say they weren’t told of the change in dentist. We spoke with three other people who had all been using the service for less than a year. They all said they had no complaints. One person said, “the staff are very friendly and make you feel relaxed”.

People told us they had enough information about their treatments and were confident that they could ask for a further explanation if needed. We saw that detailed records of their treatments had been kept.

The practice was clean and tidy. There was a process in place for minimising the risk of cross infection and contamination.

Staff told us they were supported. They said that there were plenty of opportunities to raise concerns or ideas with the dentist for change and improvement.

The provider had a process of monitoring the service that people received.
